Lord to Invest $4 Million in Expansions at Two Plants
Lord Corp. will spend $4 million to build an addition at one plant and expand its operations at another, primarily because of growth in the Industrial and Aerospace sectors. Lord's Bowling Green, KY plant will receive approximately $3 million for internal expansion and the Cambridge Springs, PA plant will receive the balance for an addition to the 160,000 sq. ft. facility. Delta Flex is the sole authorized distributor for Lord Industrial Products in the Mid-West with Lord-trained engineering support on staff and more than half a million dollars of Lord product on the shelf.
Raw Material Price Update
While there has been a slight increase in the global demand for natural rubber, a corresponding increase in production capacity has offset the effect of the demand. An increase in demand from China has been generally offset by a decrease domestically. The synthetic rubber market however is experiencing continued upward price pressures for '07 due primarily to unanticipated growth in the tire segment. While the demand for tires for automotive production has slowed, the replacement tire market has picked up sufficiently to absorb the production tires' shortfall.
